Ellie Anne Brown

I promised myself that I would get this done before it was time to do the one month post.  I'm sneaking in under the wire.  Classic Lindsay :)

I took Tuesday, April 5th off of work.  I did all the pre-admission stuff at the hospital, had lunch with Chris, and bought some groceries.  Nana came down Tuesday night after work.  We had supper, and I went to bed much earlier than I did before Connor was born.  My need for a spotless house was considerably less with this child.  Wednesday morning I got up and showered.  I crawled in bed with my boys and said good bye, and we headed out to the hospital shortly before 6.

I'm not going to lie-  I was really kind of dreading the next 4 hours.  With Kaden, they knocked me out with general anesthesia because it was quicker and we were in a hurry.  I thought the whole c-section thing was a breeze.  With Connor, I was awake with a spinal block.  Connor was really high and difficult to get out, and the whole process was VERY uncomfortable for me.  I was not looking forward to that again at all.  I was dreading it.  I had that feeling as the OB nurses got me all checked in and did what they needed to do.  Then the OR nurses came and got me.  They did all their stuff, I met with the anesthesiologist, and pretty soon I was rolled into the OR and getting numbed.

At 7:59 a.m., Ellie Anne Brown was born.  We must have been ahead of schedule since we weren't scheduled until 8:00.  She was 7 pounds 7 ounces and 21 inches long. She has long fingers, and huge feet with long toes, just like her Mama.

All in all, this experience was 100% better than two years ago with Connor.  I think the spinal block was better,  Ellie wasn't stuck, and then the nice anesthesiologist gave me some happy drugs after Ellie was out and they were finishing up.

When I got back to my room, Mom and Dad were there.  We actually ran into Dad in the elevator.  This was shortly before they got the iv stand stuck, the pump fell off, and my IV bag leaked everywhere.  When we got upstairs I got to hold Ellie, and then Nana brought the boys to meet her.  I missed Kaden seeing Connor for the first time, so I was glad to get to see the boys meet their sister.

Mom and Dad left, I got a nap when Chris and Nana took the boys to lunch.  They came back.  The rest of the hospital stay was uneventful.  I got some rest, the boys visited every day.  I'm really glad that they went to school/daycare on Thursday and Friday.  Connor was messing with EVERYTHING in the room, including turning on the water in the sink and moving my bed.  Kaden wasn't too bad, but he kept wanting to go to the waiting room with toys, which meant someone had to go with him.

We didn't have a lot of visitors, but a few.  Olivia and Tena came over right away Wednesday.  Laura and her mom both stopped, separately though.  Bubba, Heidi, and Savannah come one evening.  I got to start eating sooner this time around (they tried to starve me with Connor), so that made everything better.  Chirs spoiled the nurses with the bars that he apparently only makes when we have children.  I wonder if he'll change that or if we will never have them again???  Saturday morning, it was time to go home.
