Random Thoughts

"If you were a pirate, you know what would be the one thing that would really make you mad?  Treasure chests with no handles.  How the hell are you supposed to carry it?!"

Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey

I wanted to post something, because I have 10 free minutes and I've been slacking lately.  I didn't have any pictures other than what is on my cell phone, so I decided to use those.  Sorry for the poor picture quality! That turned the post into random thoughts, because I had a variety of pictures on my phone.  When I typed the post title, it made me think of Deep Thoughts by Jack Handey.  So that's why you get that quote to start off your reading pleasure today :)

Both boys LOVE to help in the kitchen.  This is how I had to make sloppy joes the other night.  Notice that there is barely room for me and my baby belly to fit in there.  One of Connor's favorite places to be while I am cooking or doing dishes is on the counter.  This is the only solution that both of us can agree on when he gets agitated and starts slipping between me and the cupboards and pushing me away from the counter so I will pick him up.  Once perched on the counter, he's a happy camper.

I was painting in the boys' room the other night, and Connor was chilling with me.  He disappeared, and I assumed he went downstairs because I couldn't hear him anymore.  Wrong.  I went downstairs to wash my paintbrush and hands, and he wasn't there.  I found him in my bathroom, gracefully painting his face with my lip gloss.

Speaking of painting the boy's room, Chris got some color on the wall last week.  We still need an other coat of blue and we need to trim in all of the blue and gray, but it is still exciting!  Kaden had been patiently waiting to paint his room blue and gray since we did Connor's room 2 years ago.  We had to sand and scrape all the woodwork again in this room, but it will look so good when it gets done!

Blake, Amy, Hannah, and Madison came to stay with us the last weekend in January.  The kids had a BLAST playing together.  These are a few pictures I snapped of the girls and Kaden and Connor at Chris' new shop.  Kaden had a blast showing them around.

Brotherly love on the lawn mower.  Seriously, how could you not buy this from these two cuties?

Connor has become such a character, but that's a WHOLE other post.  I managed to find a used car seat for the new babe (ours is expired), and Connor enjoyed sitting in it for a day or two.  I finally hauled it to the basement so we can have at least a few more weeks of not tripping over it :)

Connor LOVES choo-choos.  If I happen to hear one coming into town while we are on our way home from school, we will drive the the tracks just to watch it.  This picture was on my phone because we got stopped for a train one weekend while the boys were with Nana in Okoboji.  I sent the picture to Nana so Connor could see the choo choo.

So there are my random thoughts for the day, sparked by the pictures on my phone.  Hopefully I can find a few minutes here and there to blog. I have so much to share with you, like Kaden's new Kindergarten class and his week as the special person, Connor's desire to pee and then not put pants on, and pictures of a completed room (hopefully soon).  Until then, here is another Deep Thought.

I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.
