Kaden's 5th Birthday

Kaden's fifth birthday fell on a Saturday, just like the day he was born.  As we headed to the lake on Friday night, I was reminiscing about playing golf 5 years before.  Nine holes of regular golf, a pizza, and 6 holes of glow ball and Kaden was ready to come out and see what this world was all about.

When Kaden turned 3, we had his birthday party at Nana's.  We hadn't been getting as much lake time as we wanted, and thought it would be a good way to do the party and still get some lake time.  Well, Kaden now refuses to have his party anywhere else.  So Nana's house it was.

Kaden got his firs birthday present on Thursday.  Shelby an JD sent him a bag chair that looks like an octopus.  He loves it, and has graciously passed down his green one that he got from Kayla to Connor.  He used it twice this week for fires on the patio.  Thanks Shelby and JD :)

Friday night we crammed everything into the car and headed to Nana's house.  Kayla had been staying with us since Tuesday, so we had to put the seat up and fit her in, too.  We got there late, and headed to bed.  Saturday morning Hannah and Madison came over to play for a bit.  We managed to snag this picture of all of the cousins together.  That hasn't happened in 3 years or so.

After Hannah, Madison, Blake, and Amy left, Gramma, Papa, and Whitney showed up.  We had BBQ chicken for lunch (one of Kaden's favorites) and then opened presents.

He go binoculars from Papa and Gramma.  These are to help him with his storm chasing that he is always doing.  From Kayla and Melissa he got a shirt with no sleeves (his favorite attire) and some dollars.  From Whitney he got a stand up mower.  He has been wanting one for 2 years.  Now he can help Daddy with ALL of the mowing.  (He didn't like that he only had a rider and no stand up mower to do the trimming.)  He got new water shoes from Nana to help him walk in the water at the beach better, as well as the pool pass that we have already used A LOT this summer.  From us, which I got no pictures of, he got a baseball glove and ball.  He isn't nearly as interested in that.  *sigh*

After presents, there was cake.

Coolest cake ever! Thanks Nana!

Then we took Whitney and Kayla with us in the boat while Gramma and Papa went to church.  We had some fun playing at the beach at Arnold's Park.

When Gramma and Papa got back from church, we went into Arnold's Park for awhile

We kind of forced Kaden to go on the Tilt-A-Whirl, which didn't go over well at all.  He's kind of a chicken, and it went too fast for him.  After that he was MAD at Mommy, so Kayla rode the bumper cars with him to make him happier.

So that was Kaden's birthday.  I can't believe I have a 5 year old who will be in Kindergarten this fall.
