Grandma Brown's Visit

Grandma Brown made her annual trip back to the Midwest in June.  We headed to Omaha on Saturday, June 16th.  We are starting to think about trading in our boat and Nana's boat for a bigger one with a bathroom, so we left a little early to stop at Valley Marine, on the west edge of Omaha.  After dreaming in boats, chatting with the salesman, and chasing the boys around, we headed to Fremont.

We were getting together at a beautiful home on Lake Ventura.  This lake used to be a sand pit.  They built an island in the middle where, and that is where the houses are.  It was small, has motor limits on the boats, and has GLORIOUS beaches all around.

We snapped a few pictures as we waited for everyone to arrive.  Kaden was kind of being a turd, but Connor was friendly as usual.  We had a great lunch of broasted chicken, fruits, veggies, salads, and chips and caught up.  It was a hot day, but the shade of the garage and the fans made it wonderful.

Kaden was still eating when he asked "Can we go swimming now?"  As soon as we finished eating we threw on the swimsuits and headed to the beach.  We forgot out beach toys, but it was ok because they had some.  Kaden and Connor had such a good time playing in the sand and water with Julia and Jade.

Let's just say my boys were in heaven.  All 3 of them.

After a couple of hours of this, Connor was done.  He fell asleep in Nana's lap and then slept on the garage floor on his beach towel for an hour or so.

We left about 6 and drove out to see Paw.  After a brief visit we sought out the nearest PepperJax (our favorite) and had a late supper before driving back to Alta.  I was driving 3 sleeping boys for most of the trip.  About 11:30 and almost to Odebolt, I had to call by sisters so they could keep me awake.  Shelby, JD, Whitney, and Zach were doing scratch tickets at my parent's kitchen table.  I love my family.

Grandma Brown rode to Okoboji with Deb on Sunday and spent the day there Monday.  Tuesday morning Deb brought her down to Alta.  I loaded the boys in the car and we took Grandma back to Omaha.  I don't have any pictures from this day, but it was a fun day.  We stopped at Grandma Brown's friend's house outside of Blair to pick up a kindergarten desk to bring back.  Then we headed into Omaha.  We stopped at Target so Grandma could buy Kaden his birthday present.  He got 2 new cars he has been DYING to have, and a new backpack for school.  We had lunch at KFC and dropped Grandma Brown off.

Then we picked Kayla up, but that's a whole other post. :)
