We braved the blizzard to go to Omaha for some fun filled family Christmas this weekend. Chris had to work so Kaden and I headed to Omaha with Grandma. We tried to get out of town before noon because that is when the wind was supposed to pick up. We got out of town about 9:30 and made it 10 miles before the wind hit. (I would like to mention that I would love to be a weather person. You can get paid and it doesn't even matter if you are ever right!) We tried one route and hit some BAAAAD visibility spots. We turned around to head home, then decided to try a different route. The farther south we went the better it got. We made it to Omaha in 3 hours, not bad considering we turned around once. Chris busted drifts in the truck later that afternoon and joined us about 4:30. We had a great Wingender Christmas at Patti's. Lots of fun and even a freezing hot tub adventure. Kaden got some great gifts (thanks everyone!) and loved entertaining everyone.
Sunday morning we got up and moving early. We helped Jodi hook up her tv again, then headed out to Paw's house to get a load of firewood (We really like our fireplace and already used the wood we had). Then we had a Brown Christmas at Amy and Blake's. It was really fun to see Kaden and Julia together, even if they didn't really like sharing toys. We had a great lunch, opened some presents (more great stuff for Kaden. I love the clothes and he loves the toys :), and talked. Good time. Then we headed home. Had to bust some drifts once we got north of Denison, but we made it safely.
I was a good mom and remembered to take the camera, but then forgot to use it. Oops.....The first picture I took about 2 blocks from Amy's house this afternoon. That's how long it took for him to fall asleep. He had a BUSY weekend playing and showing off for everyone. The second picture was Saturday morning before we left. He was riding his new tractor from his babysitter and wearing his Daddy's hat.
