Kaden also missed about 6 days of school. He even missed his Christmas concert because of the flu. Poor kid! Once we finally got him back to school, he was ALL excited about Christmas. He comes home from school telling us how many days are left until Christmas. He LOVES all the Christmas shows on ABC Family. He even picked one of his toys to wrap up to give to Connor because we don't have any gifts under the tree yet. (Hey, I'll get it done. I told you it's been a crazy month!)
Sometime this weekend Kaden said, "Mom, we haven't even seen Santa yet! I need to give him my list!"
We normally see Santa at Santa's Castle when we have Thanksmas at our house. This event didn't happen this year because we ended up in Omaha. So we decided to head to Santa's Castle last night. We counted mice, watched the trains forever, talked to Santa, and then went to supper. We celebrated Daddy having a job where he is actually home at night in the winter, and as Kaden said at the supper table "It's Christmas, it's about being with family." Well said, kid. Here are some photos from our weeknight excursion.
Kaden was WAY excited to see everything and loved finding and counting the mice. Too bad he couldn't ever remember what number he was on!
Pretty spinning tree.
This one is blurry, but it is the boys looking at the reindeer. There are pics of Chris looking at the same display when he was little.
Surprisingly enough, Connor did a really good job of NOT TOUCHING. Who knew the child into everything could keep his hands off?!
Looking through the window at the puppies baking cookies.
The best part of the whole night....the trains. Connor LOVES trains. One of his few words is "choo choo" and he loves to watch trains. If we are in the car after school and we hear a train coming to town, we will go park and watch it. He also loves watching them on the way to Omaha. I think we could have stayed in the train room all night. Kaden was obsessed with watching the train come out of the tunnel. Connor just kept clapping and saying choo choo every time one came near him.
He looked at me for a second, but I wasn't quick enough. Back to watching the trains.
Santa was an experience. Kaden went right up, pulled his letter out of his hat, and gave it to Santa. They talked about it and then started to pick out a book. Connor crawled up there and was interested, but started to cry when I set him on Santa's lap. These are the best pictures we got.
One last picture from Santa's Castle!
