Snapshot of Connor

#2 Today I am thankful for Connor. Thursday Connor will be 8 months old. Where did my baby go? Here is a snapshot of his life.

*At his 6 month appt. he weighed 22 pounds 7 ounces. I can't remember exactly how long he was, and I don't want to get up and look right now because he is sleeping on my chest. Point is, the boy is above the 99th percentile. This is the conversation with the doctor.
Him- "Let's see where he is on the charts. He's, well, he's above the 99th percentile. But he's been there all along so there is nothing to worry about.

Me- "So he's not a freak of nature then."
Him- "Not yet" :)

* At that doctor's appointment, we were turned loose until he's a year old. He told us to feed him pretty much anything that's soft (except eggs and honey) and come back at 12 months. I love Dr. Grant. His laid back style fits my laid back parenting style.

* After that stellar day on the scale, we had to upgrade car seats. We had to buy a convertible one that will hold a chunky butt (that's how we lovingly refer to him right now) rear facing and will switch to forward facing. This works out well, because Kaden is so stinking small, he's going to be in his car seat (which converts to a booster) until he's 13 and a half. It's also ok because it was getting REALLY heavy to carry Connor in his carseat. Long story short- Connor grew out of his infant carrier at 6 months.

* At his point in his chunky life, we are proudly wearing 12 month clothes. The 18 month ones will be needed shortly after Christmas I'm sure. The good news here is that all of the 2T summer clothes that Kaden wore at 2 should fit Connor this summer.

* Mommy cannot eat without sharing. Connor eats a variety of baby foods (all of which I have made this time around), but we are adding table food too. He is pretty much entirely on table food at day care. At home, it depends what we eat and what time we eat it. The moral of the story is, I don't get to eat without sharing. Tonight he sat on the floor and screamed at me until I sat him on my lap and started sharing my pizza.

*He loves to play with his toys. He likes his karaoke machine mirror thing, but prefers to have the entire basket dumped out so he can play with all of them. One Sunday afternoon he sat on the floor surrounded by toys and played for three solid hours. We all watched the race, I corrected papers, and Kaden played. It was a great Sunday family day.

*He LOVES water. We took him swimming in October and saw a glimpse of this. Since then, he graduated to sitting in the tub and he loves splashing and playing. I love getting 2 baths done at once by throwing him and Kaden in together.

*We have 2 teeth. We got the first one right at about the 6 month mark. The second one came just days after the doctor appointment. The top two are currently knocking on the door. They have been dangerously close for weeks. We have good days and bad days.

It's way past bed time now, and we woke up WAY late this morning. Here's to a better tomorrow. And oh yeah, this is 2 in a row :)
