Tomorrow is the big day!

So here we are. We've been waiting, working, preparing, and talking about it for months, and at this time tomorrow we'll have a new member in our family. Before that happens and I get to put that update up, I thought I'd update you on other things in our life. 1. The baby's room....is finally done! It was a LOOOOONG project, but it looks really good, especially the woodwork! It makes all of the time that I spent seem not so bad now :) Here are some photos. We forgot to put the rug in before we took the pictures, but you get the idea.

2. Chris is still liking the new job. It was crazy this winter, especially since he was still new at it, but he seems to have things under control now. He has also been happier, even when it was busy. It will perfect timing for this baby, as things are slowing down a little bit. He'll be taking a week off to help me out. Also, golf course is starting up again. He's busy being a board member for our golf course, which is celebrating 50 years this year!

3. Buddy is still following me around waiting for me to sit down. It is amazing that he didn't end up blue, yellow, and white because he WOULD NOT stay out of the baby's room while I was working. Many times I had to pull dog tail hairs out of the paint or off of my brush. He tolerates Kaden's affection really well, and it will be interesting to see what he thinks when the baby comes home.

4. I have realized how hard it is to be gone for a long time from school! I only did sub notes through April 8 (7 school days) and it was really HARD. It will be interesting how my "leave" really works out. Other than that, things are good. Not a lot to update with me. I took a one year leave of absence from coaching track due to some poor timing, and I'm really missing that. I'm looking forward to following the girls and seeing how they do.

5. Kaden is still full of it :) He continue to amaze me with his observations and how his mind works. We have a stop sign on Main Street by the school that is only out from 7:30 to 4:00. We stop at it almost every morning. The other day it wasn't out yet. I wasn't slowing down as we approached the intersection, and Kaden started yelling at me to slow down because there was a stop sign coming up. I ended up stopping at the stop sign that wasn't there yet because he was adamant that I had to stop. He pays close attention when we are in the car and is interested in how we get places. He things it is a long ways to Storm Lake. He will tell you when we are driving in town that this is the way or this is not the way to get somewhere. He recognizes places we've only been once ("we got Nana's grill there" when we drive by Sears), and the other day he wanted to know how we get to Nana's house. I pointed north. He said "No, what road do we take?"

He is VERY excited to be a big brother. As we have gotten baby stuff out and organized, he has had to be a part of all of it. He has also had to try much of it out. He has a baby, and that baby has a diaper bag that is stocked. The baby had to try out the swing, pack and play, bathtub, bouncer, and car seat when they came out. It's so cute to see him take care of his baby and ask me if I'll babysit so he can play choo choos.

Notice the moustache from his chocolate pudding :)

Kaden also insists on being involved with everything. He wasnts to help. He is also adamant about doing things on his own. The other day I lifted him into the Blazer. He crawled back out and got back in because he wanted to do it himself. I've learned it's actually quicker to let him do it himself than to wait for him to redo it.

That's the basic update for now. I'll post pics from Kaden's "Special Trip" later today......maybe. I've got lots to do to feel ready for tomorrow!
