Connor- 4 months

I've spent the summer obviously not blogging :) I had good intentions to do a 3 month update on Connor and a 4 year update on Kaden, but I never did. So here is the 4 month update on Connor.

He is huge. Even the note on the bottom of the proof of physical form the doctor gave us says "large for age." We went to the doctor on Tuesday. We walked in and before we got weighed the other nurse asked if we were there for our 6 month checkup. Later, Dr. Grant told me that if you just glanced at Connor, you'd probably guess him to be a year old. At 4 months and 1 day old he weighed in at 19 pounds 1 ounce. He was 27 1/2 inches long. He was above the 99th percentile in height, weight, and head circumference. No wonder we call him chunky butt. We will have to buy a covertible carseat, as I do believe he will hit the 25 pound maximum on the car seat before he is 1 year old and we can turn him around. Here are some of the things he has been doing this summer.

He has been a champ when we have work to do outside. He lays on the blanket while we work, and sometimes drifts off to sleep, as shown here. We got one of those OFF Clip-On bug repellent and it works wonderfully to lay it on the blanket by him and keep him bug free.

He's a swimmer already. We've been out on the boat on some hot days and Connor has done very well when we get him in the water to cool him down. Here he is cooling off with Daddy at the beach in front of Arnold's Park.

I love this picture! Connor went to a concert at the park with us in July. It was an Eagles tribute band. Kaden didn't want to go, so it was just the 3 of us. Here is a great picture of Connor smiling at his Daddy.

We've spent a lot of time at various beaches. Kaden likes to play in the sand and swim, and Connor is very content just chiling out. Here he is with Ann.
Connor has done very well on the boat. He spends most of his time under the dash of the boat so he is out of the sun. With the strategic placement of towels we can pretty much keep him shaded. Here is a picture of Kaden and Connor together while we were at the beach. We used some towels to create shade so we could get Connor out from under that dash and into the breeze. It was a HOT one this day.

More chilling at the beach.

Kaden loves to crawl under the dash with Connor, but he usually doesn't want his picture taken.

Happy boating baby.

More beach time.

I let him try my popsicle after the ice cream truck stopped by.

Here is Connor using his baby float for the first time. This was at the pool. He was perfectly content floating in it for like 45 minutes. Then he took a nap. Last weekend he spent a lot of time in his float at the beach. The water at the lake is finally warm enough and he has a blast floating around.
When you leaving him laying on the floor or in his bouncer long enough and he is tired, he will suck his thumb until he falls asleep. This is him at the pool one afternoon. You may also notice the blue Okoboji shirt that he is wearing. Kaden wore this shirt in his Christmas picture at 5 1/2 months and it fit perfectly. It is too small for Connor in this picture and he is only 2 and a half months old.
He is getting really good at holding his head up.

But sometimes tummy time is just too much work.

He has also become quite the grabber lately. He likes to get ahold of my hair when it is down and likes to play with his links. Yesterday he had a firm grip on the dog's ear. I watched as Buddy licked his arm trying to free himself, and then I finally helped him out.

Connor has also discovered his voice. He likes to lay on the floor and yell. Not cry, just yell. However, every time I try to get this on video, he stops. So, you'll just have to take my word for it.

Those of the highlights of Connor's life right now. He is very tolerant of his brother poking and prodding him. He still sleeps through the night. He is pretty much a content baby, except when Mommy leaves for the evening. He apparently isn't very content for his Daddy. He travels well as long as his belly is full before you leave. The doctor gave us the go ahead to try cereal at our appointment. We've tried twice with no luck. He cries. We'll keep working on it.

That's all for now. Time to clean up the house a little and then head down to work on the basement. My list of things I wanted to do before school started is largely undone and school starts in 11 days. Oh well :) I've gotten lots of cuddles.
